This painting is an accurate copy of the group on the left of Titian's painting known as 'The Three Ages of Man' in the collection of the Duke of Sutherland which may date from c.1512–1513. The original painting left Venice at a relatively early date: in 1568 Vasari described a similar picture owned by a collector in Faenza. This painting could have been made after the original or an early copy, such as that in the Doria collection.
