The Spanish embassy on the far side of the square is decorated with two coats of arms, presumably those of Spain and of the Cardinal ambassador. In the left foreground of the picture, a small crowd is gathering round the wine fountain. The procession of carriages is headed by a gilt one with a cardinal, presumably Cardinal Bentivoglio himself, who commissioned this painting to record the festivities which took place to celebrate the birth of the Infante Luis Antonio Jaime, last son of Philip V.
