This first mural depicts the wonderful buildings that now provide a home to the retail in Chesterfield. This ranges from the purpose built, architecturally modern and warm coloured Vicar Lane Shopping Centre with its wide malls, dating from April 2000, to the black and white buildings and narrow streets of the 17th century, known as 'The Shambles'. The graceful structure of the 1857 Market Hall can also be seen in the background.
