This painting was acquired following an exhibition entitled 'Geological Formations and Fractures' held at the University of Surrey's Lewis Elton Gallery in 2005. The works in this exhibition were inspired by the artist's travels in South America and Australia. The artist studied at Bath Academy of Art, 1957–1961. He was appointed Head of Art at George Abbot School, Guildford in 1961 where he became a much valued, inspiring and, by all accounts, unconventional teacher. Passionate about his discipline he continued to nurture the careers of his students throughout his life alongside the development of his own practice.
