Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery is currently located in one of the finest timber framed buildings within the town. Rowley's Mansion and the two adjoining warehouses were built in the 16th century or early 17th century.
The collections were started in 1835 as the Shropshire and North Wales Natural History and Antiquarian Society. Archaeology and natural science remain important aspects of the collection but significant collections of Fine and Decorative Art have also been developed over many years.
