Unst Heritage Trust is responsible for two venues, Unst Heritage Centre and Unst Boat Haven.
The Heritage Centre was the result of volunteers gathering items for an exhibition for a 'Hamefaring' in 1985, and the realisation that an effort must be made to gather and store them.
The Boat Haven, on the other hand, was the result of Duncan Sandison’s lifetime research and collection. He had the foresight, the drive and determination to gather the boats that tell the story of Shetland’s maritime history. A building custom-built to house the collection was finally opened in 1994.
