  • Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen introduces coverage of the Royal Academy of Arts' Summer Exhibition. Lifetime doodler Maureen Lipman picks up her paint brush and enters the show for the first time. We'll discover what the judges make of her work in a rare glimpse of the selection process. Meanwhile, our experts pick their 'must see' works and art collector Alvin Hall delves behind the scenes on Buyers' Day, offering his guidance on how to snap up prints. We'll also meet Royal Academician Norman Ackroyd who sails to sea to prepare his prints for the show.

  • Just how tough is it to install over a thousand artworks in one exhibition? We peek behind the scenes during 'the Hang' and find out whether seasoned exhibitors John Humphreys and Colin Self and first-timer Chris Fordwoh will be lucky this year. And ... Jake and Dinos Chapman's mammoth dinosaur sculptures are transported through the streets of London and into the RA's courtyard; artist Tracey Emin signs in as the Academy's newest member; and Alvin Hall offers an exclusive glimpse of his collection and passes on tips on buying art.

  • Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen presents a live special. Architect CJ Lim pushes the limits of design for the butchers of Smithfield Market with his Pig Tower. Royal Academician Fiona Rae invites us into her studio as she works on her submissions and sculptor Colin Hoppe prepares his first RA submission. Alvin Hall shares his guide to sculpture and our panel of experts argue over their favourite works in the show. We meet David Hockney as he unveils his largest ever work at this year's Summer Exhibition. And finally, we'll reveal the winner of the £10,000 Newcomer's Prize, voted for by you.
Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen
Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen
The interior designer who made his name on Changing Rooms originally trained in fine art and began his career as a painter and printmaker. In addition to presenting both series of Summer Exhibition, Laurence has travelled the world for Holiday and reported from the Chelsea Flower Show. His creative talents have led him to design a centrepiece for the Bulbmania installation at the Eden Project and costumes for Peter Pan. Laurence has also revealed a flair for acting, appearing in The League of Gentlemen and The Royle Family.
Alvin Hall
Alvin Hall
Investment expert Alvin Hall lives in New York and is an avid art collector. He was born into a farming family in Florida and taught literature at college before switching to investment. He was Director of Marketing for Longman Financial Services Insititute and then moved on to become the Executive Director of the New York Institute of Finance. He is currently President of Alvin D Hall Associates. He says, "As long as you invest no more money than you can afford to lose, you'll have few sleepless nights".
