The Gillards 2015: The Winners

Frank Gillard Awards 2015

"No-one else has a relationship with listeners like BBC Local Radio - and tonight is about celebrating that special relationship over the past year," said Controller of English Regions, David Holdsworth, as he hosted the Gillards in Birmingham on Wednesday evening.

BBC WM's Caroline Martin and Chris Tarrant were comperes for the evening, with Tony Hall, our Director-General presenting the awards to the winners.

Addressing the audience Tony Hall said: "Local Radio - at its best - brings people together. It gives communities in cities, towns and villages a strong voice. Not just in news. That's very special. We're here to celebrate what you do tonight. You make millions of people smile. You make them proud. Keep them informed. And sometimes you simply tell them 'how it is where they live - and that's great too."
