My celebrity selfie: Goldie

Russell Parker

In the third of our series, Russell Parker, a production technology coordinator based in Salford, talks about meeting Goldie, a 'great British eccentric'.

Amongst the serene gardens of the Chelsea Flower Show in 2012, there was one person who was screaming. This would be none other than Goldie, whose real name is Clifford Joseph Price.

The dance music star and actor - who was born in Walsall in 1965 - was riding a giant helter skelter, which topped an 80ft pyramid-shaped garden on exhibit that year. 'We had his footage because he was wearing a GoPro camera,' recalls Russell.

He adds: 'Basically, he had a camera stuck to his head. I think it was the view looking at his face rather than [out] from it. It was just him screaming as he shot down a helter skelter.'

He says that Goldie 'was charm itself' when he popped back to the edit suite to talk to Russell and another assistant about viewing the footage they'd captured from his body camera.

The technology coordinator says he's a fan of the star's music and his one-of-a-kind personality, believing him to be 'a great British eccentric'.

Goldie didn't think twice about getting his picture taken. 'We asked if we could his picture and he said sure. You got the impression that it had happened thousands of times before.'
