12 shows at Christmas: Songs of Praise Big Sing

Big Sing at Royal Albert Hall The Royal Albert Hall gets dressed up for Christmas

Presenter Aled Jones tells us not to miss Susan Boyle's rendition of In the Bleak Midwinter, part of Songs of Praise's Big Sing from the Royal Albert Hall.

Sing its praises

The Big Sing is Songs of Praise on adrenaline. For this programme it's The UK's Top 10 Carols - voted by thousands of viewers in our first ever online poll. It's full of star guests, fabulous choirs, a big orchestra and an audience of 5000 at the Royal Albert Hall.

What's an unmissable moment in the programme?

Two for me - interviewing Susan Boyle after she sang In the Bleak Midwinter. I found out that, amazingly, it was her debut performance at the Royal Albert Hall. And then seeing my pal Michael Ball sing his and the UK's number one carol. I can't reveal it - all I'll say is it begins with an 'O'.

What's your favourite Christmas carol?

I've consulted Favourite Christmas Carols, written by Aled Jones (available in all good book shops), and apparently I love them all!

What Christmas song would you be happy to never hear again?

Walking in the Air - I just can't get it out of my head for some reason. A few years ago I was asked to sing it one more time at the Christmas Big Sing. I had to say yes - Howard Blake (who wrote it) was in the audience and I was accompanied by the winners of the School Choir of the Year competition, and they were from Wales!

Will the show fill us with Christmas spirit?

Christmas without carols just wouldn't be Christmas and this show has 10 of your favourites. Carols are fantastic, whether you're singing along or listening to them as you wander round the supermarket.

What fills you with Christmas spirit?

Bells!
