Bowman loses out in 6 Music shake-up

Edith Bowman Bowman will work on occasional 6 Music specials

Edith Bowman has lost out in the latest 6 Music schedule shuffle.

Fun Lovin' Criminals' Huey Morgan will take over her Saturday morning slot from November 2, moving from Sunday afternoons.

Bowman, who also presents the Tuesday night Review Show on Radio 1, will work on occasional specials for the digital station.

Last year, she was replaced as Radio 1's weekend breakfast host by Gemma Cairney, having previously lost her weekday early afternoon show to Greg James.

6 Music is also extending Cerys Matthews' Sunday morning programme by an hour this autumn, while Guy Garvey earns an earlier Sunday slot after six years at the station.

The Elbow frontman will broadcast between 2pm and 4pm, while Don Letts' Culture Clash Radio is brought forward to 10pm.

'With their daytime shows, Cerys, Guy and Huey are three broadcasters who are at the heart of the 6 Music mission,' said Bob Shennan, controller of 6 Music and Radio 2.

'To give them an enhanced role on the station is crucial to our continued growth.'
