Radio 4 wants sketches for new comedy series

Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise Think you're funny? Great performers - like Morecambe and Wise - need great writing

Radio 4 is inviting members of the public to submit sketches for a new comedy series.

Titled The Show What You Wrote, the five-part run will focus on a different theme each week: thriller/suspense; kitchen sink drama; science fiction & horror; documentary; and costume drama.

Producers are looking for a variety of stand-alone sketches that can be performed by four versatile comic actors - two female, two male.

They will read all submissions, passing their favourites on to script editors, who will give feedback to the writers.

The advice is to keep sketches short (no more than three pages long) and to not rely on adult language for punchlines.

Deadline for sketch submissions is midday on Monday 4th March and writers will be paid for any sketches that air on Radio 4.

Produced and recorded in Salford, the series aims to showcase new comedy writing and will air at 11pm from June 3.
