Duo take over late show on Radio 1
Radio 1 has recruited two up-and-coming presenters to its late show.
Phil Taggart, the voice of BBC Introducing in Northern Ireland, and Alice Levine, who has fronted her own MTV series, will host the 10pm-midnight new music programme, Monday to Thursday, from January 7.
Nick Grimshaw presented the show most recently before taking over from Chris Moyles at Radio 1 Breakfast.
Taggart, who describes himself as 'a total Radio 1 geek', is a former BBC/Skillset Young Broadcaster of the Year.
He gained his first broadcasting experience on Radio Ulster's Across the Line in 2010, before picking up the BBC Introducing job in Northern Ireland. He has been a regular stand in presenter for Radio 1.
He says his latest role is 'a complete dream job', while his co-host is 'sharper than a safety pin and genuinely funny'.Bit On The Side
Levine, who started out on a university tv station, has presented backstage at The Brit Awards and the EMAs for MTV and been the face of Big Brother spin-off show Bit On the Side. She has also presented for ITV2's The Hot Desk.
She says her first radio venture is 'a big deal'. 'I can't wait to get started and put our own spin on it.'
The station's Annie Mac will become the solo host of the Sunday night show. She will continue to start the weekend on Radio 1 with her Friday evening programme.
Radio 1 controller Ben Cooper says: 'With Phil, Alice and Annie we have a great set of talented DJs who will continue to champion the best in new music.'
