Radio 2 will broadcast a celebratory concert tonight that marks the Diamond Jubilee of the BBC Concert Orchestra.

In Friday Night is Music Night - Now We Are 60! compered by Ken Bruce, principal conductor Keith Lockhart leads the orchestra in a wide-ranging programme. They'll be joined by special guests bass baritone Sir Willard White and Sue Perkins, who won amateur conductor tv show Maestro in 2008 and guest conducts Sidney Torch's London Transport Suite. And the Swingle Singers, who are celebrating an anniversary of their own having been an ensemble for fifty years this year, sing Mozart's Magic Flute Overture.

The BBC Concert Orchestra's Diamond Jubilee began on Radio 2 with Celebrating 60 - archive performances of the orchestra ranging across opera, musical theatre, jazz, classical and pop music, alongside artists including Matt Monro, Elizabeth Harwood, Dudley Moore and Lionel Richie.

Tonight's concert was recorded in front of a live audience at the Mermaid Theatre yesterday.
