25 out of 59 Birmingham staff working in TV programme making have chosen to move to Bristol.

See Hear, Countryfile, Sky at Night, the Flower Shows, Gardeners' World and Points of View are making the move between August and December.

Helen Ryan from the broadcasting union Bectu reacted with surprise that so many people have agreed to move.

"I am surprised because house prices are more expensive in Bristol than they are in Birmingham."

Homeowners who are relocating are offered financial support covering the cost of buying a new house. This includes stamp duty and legal fees.

While 42% of the 59 staff have agreed to move, among editorial staff that percentage increases to 61%.

Nick Patten, Head of Factual in Birmingham and Manchester, sent an email to staff saying "the fact that so many of you have decided to relocate will enable us to make the move with a core team to deliver our output".

Staff from Audio and Music and Information and Archives are also being asked to relocate from Birmingham to Bristol.
