Pryde reaches finals of technology awards

Alix Pryde

Alix Pryde, director of Distribution, has been chosen as one of the finalists in the 2012 everywoman in technology awards.

Pryde, who oversees the BBC's broadcast distribution strategy also occasionally deputises for the Chief Technology Officer. She has been shortlisted for the Leader of the Year in a corporate organisation (with over 500 employees) category. Her nomination is for her work in inspiring women to work in technology through initiatives such as the Women of the Future Ambassadors Programme for female sixth-formers and the Council for Industry and Higher Education's Talent 2030 programme.

She is also working with Talent 2030 to compile a website of inspiring stories of women with a background in physics and engineering who have done well, with the aim of encouraging more girls to take physics at A-Level.

In 2011 Pryde was elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Physics in 2011 and is also a BBC performance coach.

Winners will be announced on March 20 at a ceremony at the Savoy.
