Big Weekend for Carlisle

Foo Fighters, Black Eyed Peas, Tinie Tempah and Jessie J are named amongst a stellar line-up for Radio 1's annual Big Weekend event, which this year descends on Carlisle in mid-May.

But the crowd puller will be Sunday's headliner, Lady Gaga, who said: 'This event is so important to me because Radio 1 was one of the first stations to really support my artistry and my music and I get to come back and enjoy this moment with all of you. Thank you so much for all of your love and support and for always believing in me as an artist. I can't wait to see you. Paws up Radio 1.'

Foo Fighters will headline on Saturday May 14.

Radio 1's Big Weekend is the UK's biggest free ticketed festival and 40,000 music fans - mostly from the Carlisle area - will see performances across four stages at Carlisle Airfield.

The venue was announced live this morning at Trinity School in Carlisle by Scott Mills, who is sitting in for Chris Moyles, and singer Katy B performed in front of the school's pupils.
