Test Cards and Ceefax

Test Cards and Ceefax

An interview with Edwin Parsons a BBC preservation expert

Edwin Parsons, a preservation expert from the BBC's Archives, explains why the test cards and Ceefax matter more than you might think.

End of Ceefax

As the Ceefax signal is actually part of the analogue TV signal, when the last analogue TV transmitters are turned off in the south of England in 2012, of course there won't be any Ceefax any more. Fortunately, the BBC archives are keeping a selection of pages from Ceefax so that future generations will know what they looked like.
