Woman's Hour | Gerry Marsden

Gerry Marsden talks about finding fame and fortune with The Pacemakers.

Synopsis

In this genial chat about his career, Gerry Marsden describes hearing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' sung for the first time by fans at Anfield, Liverpool Football Club's stadium. He also talks about gigs in Liverpool and elsewhere during the 1960s and what he is currently doing on the music scene.

Did you know?

The song 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical 'Carousel'. It is sung to comfort the female protagonist early in the show and then reprised at the finale when one of the leading characters graduates from college. For this reason it is often sung by graduating students in America.
