Synopsis

Patrick Gordon Walker entered Belsen five days after it had been liberated by the British. In this personal account, he describes the background to the recordings which formed the basis of 'Belsen Facts and Thoughts' and gives a glimpse of the dreadful conditions in the camp. His horror, and his desire to record personal testimonies of camp life from all sides, is apparent. The family of Patrick Gordon Walker have given the BBC permission to include this diary.
