Dad's Army at 40 | How Captain Mainwaring and Sergeant Wilson got called up

After Michael Mills (Head of BBC Comedy and Light Entertainment) wrote to complain about his decision to re-edit the opening titles to 'Dad's Army', Paul Fox responds with a memo that shows how uncertain the series' future was at this time. No-one could have predicted how much of a success it would become.
Did You Know: The result of this disagreement was that Paul Fox won the battle and the title sequence was remade. Instead of the footage of real soldiers that had been planned, a new sequence was commissioned using the now-familiar animation of Swastika-emblazoned arrows prodding a Union Flagged arrow back across the English Channel.
