Olive Margerison (nee Christopher) was Churchill's secretary during World War II. Working from the Cabinet War Rooms beneath Whitehall, she sat in on high-level meetings throughout the conflict and attended the Potsdam Conference in 1945. As the legendary rooms are opened to the public, Margerison speaks for the first time about her years at Churchill's side.
Olive Christopher worked for two years in the underground Cabinet War Rooms, one of only eight civilian secretaries employed there. Their salaries ranged between 75 pence and two pounds, 10 shillings per week and they had access to the highest levels of secret information, including the date for D-Day and the movements of British troops.
