Jazz music can make you drive faster, says the report

Today Yvonne and Reda talk about how listening to different kinds of music affects your driving.

A recent survey says that people who listen to classical music are less likely to have an accident than those who listen to rock or pop.

Rock fans are most likely to experience road rage according to the survey. 67% of rock fans admit to swearing or gesturing at other drivers. 31% have been involved in a minor accident.

Classical music listeners, on the other hand, are the least likely to speed, to tailgate and to lose their cool with other drivers. 42% of motorists listening to classical music say they found driving relaxing.

What is perhaps more surprising is that jazz fans are the most likely to get speeding fines. This might be because jazz is often more complex and places more demands on the brain.

Pop music, by comparison, is often simpler and more repetitive with lyrics people can remember, so you don't need to concentrate as much when listening to it.
