A typical day for me would start on Monday where I have to travel from London, Kings Cross Station to Yorkshire where I would normally board the 7.50 train and I get off at Wakefield where I would take a car to our head office.
I work within a group of companies that manufacture and weave textile cloths mainly for menswear and furnishing fabrics and the company I look after is right at the top of the quality spectrum. My involvement is in two areas in the managerial capacity where I have to deal with outside customers, suppliers or the workforce, and in the design function where we employ professional textile designers.
I act as a stylist giving the designers directions for the trends that we want to follow and instructing them in what sort of fabrics we want to weave or yarns that we want to use. Obviously that will culminate in the show that we have at the end of the season. We have two seasons in the year : summer and winter, and we normally hold a show and exhibit all the fabrics we have created in a collection, which is then taken up by world famous designers or fashion houses that would actually make up the cloth into garments.
