Raw ambition - Ghazal

Raw ambition - Ghazal

Week 8 The youngest candidate failed to win over Sir Alan this week in the boardroom. We caught up with her as she left the competition...

You looked so sad in the cab. How did you feel when you were fired?
I knew Sir Alan had marked my card last week when he gave me the 'wild card' to come back in a few years time. At that point, I took it as a very positive message that he thought I do have something. This week, I thought I would step up and prove him wrong, but we lost. Nothing can prepare you for those words 'you're fired' and I'm gutted.

Sir Alan was quite harsh with you in the boardroom. He said you were 'all talk and no do'. How did you feel hearing that?
I was quite surprised. I think Sir Alan's view of me was very tainted. I was gutted, but the fact is that I'm 23 and I was up against 15 of the most talented business individuals in the UK.

Episode 8 recapSimon carves some shapes. The girls struggle for ideas

Did the older candidates have an advantage over you?
They definitely had the advantage of more experience. Not just in business, but of dealing with different people. Some people were more clued up about the scheming that was going on. I just took everyone at face value and maybe that's my age and my naivety working against me.

Who's the biggest schemer?
Before watching the episode I would have said Kristina. Her and Naomi can be very negative. After watching the episode, Katie's just so intelligent I just don't know whether I was part of her game. Katie's a global brand manager so why didn't she bring more ideas to the table? Was it just part of her game that I got sucked into?

The advertising task was tough. Do you feel your team let you down?
Absolutely. Naomi said to camera that she thought I was a crap project manager. Why didn't she offer more solutions? We had to go with what we had. I'd like to think Katie wasn't playing a game as I trusted her. She supported me throughout the task and I allowed Katie to take-over as she was the expert. I thought she wanted to win.

Who would you like to see win?
I'm rooting for Tre. I want him to win. He's such a fantastic guy. He's got so much talent. He's so honest. You don't often find honest people like that, especially in the house. In terms of the females, Katie is by far the most competent of them. My bets are with both of them.

Do you have any regrets about appearing on the show?
No - at the end of the day I'm a 23 year old who's achieved a lot in a short space of time.
