Mladic in the Hague, new countries vying for EU accession, bloating debt, and billion-Euro bailouts.
It's been a big year for Europe.
Economic pain, and all the trickle-down effects that come with it. Greece, Ireland, and Portugal have needed international bailouts to keep their economies afloat. Where next, and how will the austerity measures manifest themselves in people's lives? This year Eòrpa will try to tell the biggest stories on the most important issues, from the point of view of those affected, the people of Europe.
With an ever-expanding and constantly changing EU, the stories are there – make sure you watch Eòrpa to see them.
The end of the summer but the start of many opportunities – that's the feeling I get returning to Eòrpa this year. Last series was full of interesting stories for myself and for the rest of the team – from elections in Belarus, to problems with HIV care in Ukraine.
If the economic problems within the European Union and the political unrest of the 'Arab Spring' weren't interesting enough for us at the start of the new series, we will also be relaunching our titles and music. We will now also be broadcasting on Freeview.
Keep watching!
In the eighteen years Eòrpa has been broadcasting I don't think there has been a more exciting time to be covering European current affairs than now. As a summer of unrest and change gives way to autumn, Eorpa will be back to provide viewers with the most compelling insight and comment from across the continent. Last year we covered subjects as diverse as the Russian space programme and the future of the coastguard service in Scotland. This year Eòrpa will be everywhere from Lochmaddy to Ljubljana in search of the newest and most interesting stories.
