I like the essence of history brought about by this vintage post Edwardian receipt.
Having lived in Bedford England for most of my life I have seen many changes over the years and its nice to get a sense of how people once made purchases and paid for them in an era that is unknown by many. It shows the way in which stamps were used as a method of payment and the currency used in the UK during the 1920'S. This particular establishment had been around since 1857 and obviously had a thriving business for some years.
Battison Street still exists in Bedford Town today.
What a privilige to have such a sense of history on a peice of paper that has lasted almost a 100 years.
