PS Mercury Launch Mallet

This finely modelled launch mallet was used by Mrs Ballantyne to launch the paddle steamer Mercury from the Fairfield Shipyard at Glasgow in 1934. Its two brass rings are engraved with the launch details and its housed in a beautiful hardwood box with brass plaque. Mrs Ballantyne was presented with a fine engraved silver fruit basket for launching the Mercury.
