Gas mask

Contributed by Coleraine Library AHOW event

As war raged across Europe between 1939 and 1945 people were given gas masks to protect them from possible airborne gas attacks by the Germans. This gas mask has been passed down through the family and it still has its original box. It's quite a scary looking object but played such an important role in the war effort.
