Iron Bed Portuguese Royal Coat of Arms

This cast iron bed tells us about the abolition of the Portuguese monarchy in the aftermath of the Portuguese Republican Revolution of 4-5th October 1910, and of the subsequent exile of the Portuguese King D. Manuel II (Lisbon, 1889 - London, 1932), who arrived in England shortly with other members of the Portuguese Royal Family, where he was received by George V. In exile, D. Manuel lived in his family's residence in Fulwell Park, Twickenham, in London, where he was involved in the local community. His influence in the area is maintained by the number of toponymical references (e.g. Manuel Road, Lisbon Avenue and Portugal Gardens). It is believed that this bed with the Portuguese Royal Coat of Arms belonged to the Portuguese Royal Family in exile in England. Further information about this object/subject would be greatly appreciated. This bed was bought in 2008 at the Brighton Sunday Market (East Sussex).
