HMS Victory centenary medal 1905

This small medal was struck from copper taken from HMS Victory by the British & Foreign Sailor's Society to fund the restoration of that famous ship. More imortantly it reminds me of the debt we all owe not only to Nelson, but to all those men who served at Trafalgar in the defence of this country, and it also reminds me of My Father's (Jim Phillips)Pride in England Maritime history and his families links to both the the Royal and Merchant service. His great, great, great grandfather was a Master Mariner who sailed out of Lieth in Scotland, his garndfather was a coxswain on a lifeboat in the south west (Burnham on sea), and two of his sons served in the Royal Navy. From his deep interest and the books he and I read together he passed on to me the importence of common, brotherhood, honesty, trust and humanity that I attempt to display to others throughout my life.
To Glory We Steer.
