Great Grandpa's Piano

Great Grandpa's Piano

This is a Bechstein Piano from Germany. It has a brass plaque saying "Made expressly for Bruton & Co, 22 High Street, Weston-Super-Mare". It is very good quality with an iron frame. I can remember my Grandfather playing it and I chose it from his estate instead of jewellery. For me it represents continuity and also the triumph of the pleasures of creativity over conflict - it was probably bought between the two World Wars but my Great Grandfather still bought German because he wanted a good piano. My son is learning the piano so it is once again in daily use.
