Section of the Berlin Wall

The Wall, built by Communist Soviet and East German forces, divided East and West Berlin from 13th August 1961. With the ending of the Cold War, the wall had no further use. The German Government decided to keep some parts intact as memorials but to dismantle the rest. 38 (Berlin) Field Squadron Royal Engineers, who had been stationed in the city for many years, assisted in the work and brought this section of the wall to England for the Royal Engineers Museum.
