A leaf shaped flint tool usually interpreted as arrow heads. The macro photograph displays the multitude of strikes required to remove many tiny flakes of flint to create the tools shape and its 'rippled' appearance. Allot of someone's effort was required to craft this piece which could have very easily been lost or broken on the first occasion that it was used. Surely a much simpler easy to produce tool would have worked just as well? Was such a beautiful object never meant to be used as a tool, a votive object? Or simply someone showing off their skill?
