Testimonial Heaton Binns silk mill India

This testimonial was given to my great grandfather, who lived and worked in the Leeds / Bradford area as a mechanical engineer. It shows the contribution made by ordinary men to the development of India and her industry. It reads:

Bombay 10th January 1878
H Binns Esq
Manager, Safsoon Silk Manufactg Co
Dear Sir,
We regret very much that your connection with our Mill has ceased from last month, and we take this opportunity of testifying to your Skill and energy with which you discharged your very responsible and onorous duties. You joined the Mill before any machinery was up which by your Sole exertions were put into the working order in which it now is, and have thus contributed to the success of an enterprise which is the First of its kind in India. Your tact in the Management of the Mill operativesand work-people whom you taught the different processesin the Manufacture of Silk has been invaluable, and we have as the representativesof Shareholders, to express our thanks for the important Services rendered by you.
With the best wishes for your prosperity.
We remain
Dear Sir
Yours faithfully,
Panalal Pooranchund Jowhe
