Learning Difficulties and the web

Information about how people with learning disabilities use the web and useful website resources

Introduction

There is very little information on how people with learning difficulties use or access the web. To tackle this the BBC commissioned research on web accessibility for people with learning difficulties and when published will be linked to from this site.

Symbol Browser

There is also symbol browser software called Communicate: Webwide (previously called ' Webwise' ) that was launched in 2004 which helps makes pages easier to read - there is more information on Symbol Browsers here.

The Learning Disability website

This is a site designed to provide information, education and services to both members of the public and those with a commercial interest. The site is primarily aimed at providing education information for people with learning disabilities, their carers, advocates, friends, professional carers, social and health care workers, students and those who have an active interest in promoting equality of opportunity for people with learning disabilities.
