Known limitations and bugs

Release 1.3 of MyDisplay is a trial release.

This means that there are limitations to what MyDisplay can currently do, and you may find some bugs in the way it personalises some pages on BBC Online.

This page let's you know about the current bugs with and limitations of MyDisplay that we know of at the moment.

MyDisplay Release 1.2 - May 18th 2011


When viewed through MyDisplay, the following issues may occur:

Homepage
The BBC Homepage is not customisable. We are currently looking into fixes for this.
Programmes pages
Some BBC programmes pages currently do not display with MyDisplay. We are currently looking into fixes for this.
Listen live
'Listen live' is currently not available, however watching BBC TV channels live through iPlayer is unaffected. We are currently looking into fixes for this.
Weather
The weather site search mechanism does not work. We are currently looking into fixes for this.
Flash
MyDisplay cannot currently apply your settings on Flash content across BBC Online. If MyDisplay proves popular, we will look at this for a future version of MyDisplay.
Cookies
Some BBC websites have difficulty storing data in some cookies used on BBC Online. We are currently looking into fixes for this limitation.
Banners
The banners on some BBC websites (e.g. BBC News) are currently removed when using MyDisplay themes which change colours. We are currently looking into fixes for this.
Ticker controls
The controls for some tickers are removed. We are currently looking into fixes for this limitation.

September 16th 2011: My Display Trial Closes – The BBC would like to thank all the participants and organisations involved in the user trial and for their expertise, input and valued feedback. All the insights gained from the trial will enable further research and investigation into interface customisation for people with vision and cognitive disabilities.

May 24th 2011: Release 1.3 of MyDisplay goes live - problems with BBC iD retrieval of themes now fixed

May 18th 2011: Release 1.2 of MyDisplay goes live - New toolbar makes it easier to turn MyDisplay on/off and change theme when viewing different pages

Apr 15th 2011: Release 1.1 of MyDisplay goes live
