Changing colours in Netscape 7

This page explains step-by-step how to change the text and background colours in Netscape 7 for Mac OS 8 and 9

Instructions

  1. Open the ' Edit ' menu with the mouse and then click on ' Preferences ' (no keyboard shortcut).
  2. Click on, or use the arrow keys, to select the ' Colors ' heading underneath the ' Appearance ' category. If you cannot see the ' Colors 'heading, you may need to expand the ' Appearance ' category. Do this by clicking on the arrow next to ' Appearance ' , by double clicking on the heading or using the up arrow key to select ' Appearance ' and then the right arrow key. (See Fig 1) .

  1. Choose to use your Mac OS colour scheme by clicking on ' Use system colors ' or press the ' Tab' key until the ' Use system colors ' option is highlighted and then press the ' spacebar ' to select it.

  1. Click on the ' Text ' colour option which will bring up a colour swatch from which you can choose a colour by clicking on it (no keyboard shortcut).
  2. Click on the 'Background ' colour option which will bring up a colour swatch from which you can choose a colour by clicking on it (no keyboard shortcut).
  3. If you need to change the link colours click on ' Unvisited Links' colour option which will bring up a colour swatch from which you can choose a colour by clicking on it . Repeat for the ' Visited Links ' option.(no keyboard shortcut).
  4. If not already selected click on the radio button ' Use my chosen colours, ignoring the colours and background images specified ' as shown in Fig 2 or press ' Tab ' until ' Always use the colors and background specified by the web page' is selected then press the down arrow once to select ' Use my chosen colours, ignoring the colours and background images specified '.

  1. Click ' OK ' or press ' Enter ' to return to Netscape.

Note: If this does not work it could be because your computer settings cannot be changed due to local IT policies - contact your local IT support for further help.
