Making your computer talk in KDE

This section tells how you can make your computer talk in KDE

Overview

KDE Text-to-Speech (KTTS) is a very recent software release as part of KDE 3.4 .

It is still in development and aims to become the standard way for all KDE applications to provide speech output. There is good guidance on setting it up in the KTTS Handbook.

For example KTTS will:

  1. Speak any plain text file.
  2. Speak all or any portion of an HTML page from Konqueror.
  3. Speak any text from the KDE clipboard.
  4. Speak KDE notifications (KNotify).

As an when more details become available, instructions on how to use it will be added to this page.
