Changing your colours in Gnome

How the Gnome desktop looks can be changed in the ' Theme ' preferences menu, which has a number of different colour schemes to choose from such as ' High Contast ' and ' Large Print '. To change your theme:

1. Open the Applications menu (' Alt ' +' F1 ' ) and click on ' Preferences' or press ' down arrow' + ' Enter' to select it.
2. Click on ' Theme' (see Fig 1 ), or select it by press ' down arrow ' + ' Enter' to select it.

1. Once in the ' Theme ' preferences menu scroll down and click on a scheme to select it or use the ' down arrow' key to try out different themes (see Fig 2). Each time you select one the desktop settings will change giving you a chance to see if you like the scheme. Once you have found a suitable theme you can click the ' Close ' button or press ' Enter' to accept the changes.

1. If you wish to change the icons and window borders from those in your new scheme it is is possible to make further changes in the ' Theme Details' menu (see Fig 2) which you can access by clicking on the 'Theme details' button or by pressing the ' Tab ' key twice and then pressing ' Enter '. You can then change the options for the Window border and the icons - see Fig 3.

There are further colour themes available on the web which can be downloaded and installed using the ' Install Theme menu which is on the ' Theme ' preferences menu.
