How to make the mouse left-handed in KDE 4
This page explains step-by-step how to make the mouse left-handed in KDE 4 for Linux. By default your mouse is set up for a right-handed person, with the primary button on the left. However, you can swap the function of the mouse buttons from the default left click, so that a right click is instead used for selection and dragging. You'll just need to remember to press the opposite button to what is called for when you are following instructions (for example, if you are requested to right-click on something).

Step 1: Open the 'Mouse Settings' window
Click on the 'K' icon on the menu bar, or press Alt + F1, to open 'Kickoff' as shown in Fig 1.

Click on 'Computer' and then 'System Settings', or use the arrow keys to select these and then press Enter, to open the 'System Settings' window shown in Fig 2.
(Some setups may vary. In this example, 'System Settings' is also available from the 'Favourites' tab, as shown in Fig 1.)

Click on 'Keyboard & Mouse', or press Tab to enter the main part of the window, then use the arrow keys to highlight 'Keyboard & Mouse' and press Enter.
In the 'Keyboard & Mouse' window, click on 'Mouse', or press Tab until the pane on the left of the window is highlighted, then use the down arrow key to move to 'Mouse', as shown in Fig 3.

Step 2: Set the mouse for left-handed use
If it is not already selected, click on the 'General' tab, or press Alt + G.
Click the radio button next to 'Left handed' or press Alt + F.
(To change the mouse back to right-handed, click the radio button next to 'Right handed' or press Alt + T.)
Click on the 'Apply' button or press Alt + A to save your changes.
Click on the 'Overview' button or press Esc to return to the 'System Settings' window. Click the 'Close' cross or press Alt + F4 to return to the KDE desktop.
