How to magnify the screen in KDE 4

This page explains step-by-step how to use KMag, the built-in magnification feature in KDE 4 for Linux. However, KMag has only been incorporated into the KDE environment since version 3.2, and is a very simple magnification application, with limited sophistication and options at present. Most vision-impaired people will find that they require fully-functional magnification software.

Use the magnifier in KDE 4

Click on the 'K' icon on the menu bar, or press Alt + F1, to open 'Kickoff' as shown in Fig 1.

Click on 'Applications' and then 'Utilities', or use the arrow keys to select these and then press Enter.

To open the KMag application, click on 'Screen Magnifier' in the 'Utilities' submenu, or press the down arrow key to highlight it and then press Enter. This will launch the KMag viewer, shown in Fig 2.
