Tips: preparing for the edit

Time with an edit suite with an editor doesn't come cheap. The more organised you are, both prior to shooting and before you start your edit, the better chance you have of the edit running smoothly and efficiently.

Producer/director Alison Grist offers advice on making the most of the time between shooting and editing. Keeping an accurate record of your rushes and bringing ideas and additional materials, like music and archive footage, to the edit will help to save time.

"The edit process is a collaboration." – Alison Grist

Alison also recommends keeping an open mind about your edit - listen to the editor's ideas, and be willing to change your mind.
