Groomed for Sex

Tommy Nagra, executive producer, and Fran Baker, producer/director, talk about their contentious BBC Three documentary Groomed for Sex, first screened in December 2011, which examined the spate of sexual grooming cases involving Pakistani men.

BBC Three has seen an 80% increase in audience for documentaries in the last three years as well as high audience appreciation scores for Our War, Small Teen Big World and other documentaries on the channel. It is fast gaining a reputation for tackling contentious subjects sensitively and offering opportunities for programme makers to make one-off documentaries.

"This was a genuine exploration into a sensitive subject."– Tommy Nagra

Tommy and Fran talk to Amanda Lyon about the challenges they faced in bringing a potentially volatile story to our screens. They touch on their approach to gaining contributors' trust, the importance of personal involvement from the presenter and the benefits of self shooting.
