Constructed reality shows such as The Only Way is Essex and Made in Chelsea, have become incredibly popular in the last few years. So how do the programme makers influence and piece together real and fictional elements to create this often addictive TV and where is this genre headed?

Alan Hayling is founder and editorial director of Renegade Pictures and the mastermind behind hit reality series Don’t Tell the Bride, now in its fifth year.

Patrick Holland is managing director at Boundless, the production company responsible for the impressive machine that is The Apprentice.

Jonathan Stadlen co-created TV company Knickerbockerglory and the TV series, Pineapple Dance Studios. His team have just announced a new constructed reality sketch pilot, Boom Town.

Tony Wood is the creator of constructed reality series, The Only Way is Essex, or TOWIE as its millions of fans like to call it.
