Zeb Chadfield: editor and colourist

Zeb Chadfield is a freelance online editor and colourist. He specialises in finishing with recent credits including The Voice, Rolf on Welsh Art, Steve Jobs: iChanged the World and Fry’s Planet Word.

What are your key responsibilities?

I finish programmes for television. That includes making sure the programme is technically correct and meets broadcast standards.

What was your first job in your area and how did you get it?

Runner to the assistant editor, logging rushes. I got it while working at Apple. I talked to media types and asked for opportunities.

How long did it take you from there to where you are now?

Ten years.

Was there a formative programme which made you want to work in your area?

The Young Ones and The Fast Show.

What is your favourite TV programme at the moment?
My favourite is probably Breaking Bad.

Has there been a moment where you’ve thought, "I can’t believe I get paid to do this!"?

I think most days I do. I really enjoy what I do so I'm always pretty happy to be at work.

What’s been the most memorable moment of your career so far?

Probably getting to meet Hugh Laurie.

What things do you always have with you?

I do my best to always have a good attitude regardless of how little sleep I have had. In terms of objects it’s my interactive pen and tablet

Most useful skill you’ve developed?

I think being able to always pick up new skills. This industry changes fast, so staying on top of the changes is a skill in itself!

What are you up to next?

I'm working on a few apps for iPhone 5 and still online editing and grading various programmes.
