Journalism

Safety

Some stories pose a risk to your physical or mental health. But it’s not only reporting from a war zone that can expose individuals to trauma or injury. Covering a distressing court case, road accident or natural disaster may have an impact on mental health, while injuries can occur at any time. This section of the College of Journalism website offers advice on managing post-traumatic stress and first aid techniques.

Access to the BBC Academy's College of Journalism website is free to everyone in the UK and commercially available overseas. If you are a subscriber click here.

The College of Journalism is the body that trains all BBC journalists. It also provides training on a commercial basis for news organisations around the world - see our commercial website or contact us at bbcacademy@bbc.co.uk.
