Trauma risk management (TRiM): Professor Neil Greenberg

Professor Neil Greenberg of King’s College London demonstrates with the help of an actor how to conduct a trauma risk management (TRiM) interview.

Journalists who travel to conflict or disaster zones can suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder after witnessing or experiencing trauma. The BBC has adopted the TRiM method of traumatic stress support.

TRiM (trauma risk management) is a peer support system that aims to identify those who are not coping after potentially traumatising events and ensure they are pointed towards professional help.

A real TRiM assessment would last for about 30 minutes, with a follow-up session a month later.
