Peter Rippon, Editor, BBC Online Archive

On February 21st, 2013 it was announced that Peter Rippon will be taking up the post of Editor of BBC Online Archive, leading the BBC's Journal of Record initiative. There is full press release about the appointment here.

Previously Rippon was Editor of BBC Two's Newsnight.

Prior to that he was the Editor of The World At One, PM, Broadcasting House and The World Tonight on BBC Radio 4.

He was also the editor of iPM, an interactive news programme based on listener participation.

His programmes have won numerous awards including Sony Gold in 2007 for interactivity for PM.

Peter has also edited Newshour at the BBC World Service.

Peter began his BBC career as a trainee reporter in 1989. He has worked at BBC World Television and in the World Service newsroom.

He has a Master's degree from Southampton University in International Politics and a BA (Hons) from the University of East Anglia in Philosophy and Politics.

Peter was born in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, and educated at Gillott's Comprehensive School.
