Biography

Last updated July 2008

Nicolas Brown joined the BBC as Director, Drama Production in 2006, and is now responsible for in-house drama within England and delivering over 300 hours to the BBC channels every year.

Over the past two years he has overseen a run of success in terms of commissions won, audience and award success across a range of output from EastEnders to classic drama such as Cranford and BBC Four's The Curse Of Comedy season.

Prior to joining the BBC Nick was one of the leading producers working within British film and television.

Nick began working as a freelance producer in 1995. His credits include London Bridge for Carlton TV and Hope And Glory and Deceit for BBC One.

A successful relationship with Company Pictures followed, where he produced The Life And Adventures Of Nicholas Nickleby for ITV and then the adaptation of Zadie Smith's White Teeth for Channel 4.

In 2003 Nick produced his first feature film, Ladies In Lavender, directed by Charles Dance, for Scala Productions.

He has since produced two feature-length television films – Friends And Crocodiles and Gideon's Daughter – for the BBC, both written and directed by the award-winning Stephen Poliakoff, and a film for Channel 4, Bradford Riots, written and directed by Neil Biswas.
